To kick off the new year we've enlisted Michael Sole to provide us with the first podcast. A crate digger and music enthusiast like no other. Evidence of his knowledge of electronic dance music can be heard all over this mix. So sit back and enjoy the trip.

Where and how was your mix recorded?

At my loft (as I like to call it) on my Technics SL1210's and my baby, the E&S DJR400. Mostly vinyl and some digital vinyl with my Macbook with Traktor Scratch Pro a Allen & Heath XONE 1D and Audio8 soundcard. This mix is a sound I'll always love, a groove driven house sound always referring to the early 90's deep and jersey house.

Tell us a little bit about your background in music

My musical taste is very much a reflection of my parents sound. They were big Motown and Philly sound lovers also Soul and Jazz, and that's always a kind of sound that I need in my music, a live element a kind of warmness. The dj'ing all started when I was around 12 years old. My mom had a colleague who was a dj and he played a couple of times with tiesto and names like that. At home he had a set and knew I wanted to try to dj so i came over to play my first pieces of wax. Also he had a spare turntable which I bought of him and started buying some trance, house and garage vinyls. This then later shifted more to hip-hop, which I still sometimes buy. But at age 16 the house and garage sound caught my attention again, and it never let me go since.

What inspires you to make and/or play the music that you do?

I think music itself inspires me a lot. sometimes you just hear these little things in tracks which makes you wanna pull your moustache up or sit back and think about the mood it gives you. Really, really good parties are a big inspiration because that gives a real energy boost and after a party I try make some music to keep that amtmosphere of the party alive.

What are you currently up to and what's up next?

Currently I'm hanging with you guys at Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! doing all sort of stuff for the label and ofcourse organizing CLUB909. As far as my own projects.. Always emptying my bank account on vinyl and I have some ideas which I'm working on and try to improve my producing skills.
